In Vitro Ferilization
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is a procedure where fertilization occurs outside the body, typically in a laboratory setting. This process entails monitoring and stimulating a woman’s ovulatory cycle, retrieving eggs from her ovaries, and allowing sperm to fertilize them in a liquid in the laboratory.
Once the fertilized egg (zygote) has undergone cultivation, it is subsequently placed into the same woman’s uterus, with the aim of achieving a successful pregnancy.
For In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) to yield positive results, it typically necessitates the presence of healthy eggs, fertile sperm, and a receptive uterus capable of sustaining a pregnancy. The likelihood of achieving pregnancy through IVF is largely influenced by age. In individuals under the age of 35, the chances are close to 50% per attempt but decrease significantly as age advances. For instance, a 42-year-old woman has less than a 10% probability of achieving pregnancy.
It’s important to note that there can never be a guarantee of pregnancy following any fertility procedure.
